After conquering the Greeks, the Romans became fascinated by the art of poetry. The most popular school within the Roman Empire was stoicism. Stoicism taught that the universe was proper and wise. It stated that, nevertheless a persons riches, beliefs or position,  they should always strive to do their personal best. These ideas attracted the Romans. Roman philosophers such as Seneca, Cicero and the Emperor Marcus Aurelius took after this idea, and built a career based off of it. Romans set the stage for future philosophers to wander freely regardless of their beliefs, wealth or role in society.
